Hear me out about Ben…

2022.01.25 01:07 hilzaberry Hear me out about Ben…

Ben is creepy, weirdly religious, socially awkward and generally off putting…but if I have to be honest, I think this dude has been through a ton of religious/ritualistic cult abuse he has never addressed or recovered from. He stated he escaped a cult, but he has escaped the situation he was in physically, but not mentally. I think currently he is operating level below Ethan Plath on the “learning how to be a real adult whos functional in society”. No wonder he keeps getting scammed and is so freakin gullible…..

2022.01.25 01:07 OtherwiseChocolate73 ICU or Dialysis? Can you help me figure out work life balance with first baby on the way!

Hi everyone!
I wanted to hear some thoughts from fellow nurses out there. I’m fairly new to nursing. I’ve been been an RN for nearly 1.5 years. My first year I worked as an RN supervisor in a SNF. I’m presently working in an ICU. I love where I work. The hours are regular. I work a 7a-7p position. My current commute in 2miles from home.
I am currently 5 months pregnant, and expecting my first baby! I have no idea what balancing work life and having a child will be like, so I’m considering all my future opinions.
I have the opportunity to work as a traveling hemodialysis nurse in the SoCal area in the future. The commitment as a HD nurse would be 3x/week and 1 day on call. During the 3 days, I’d be a assigned to see 3 patients. The expected hrs of would would be approx 12hrs, not including reimbursed travel from hospital to hospital. My thoughts are that pros to HD nursing is better pay for a less strenuous position. In some ways, HD offers more flexibility; however it’s also a con because of additional commute, work beginning at any hour of the day and having one day on call.
Would it be best to just stick to my current position in the ICU or should I explore other options? They haven’t done be wrong yet.

2022.01.25 01:07 SeaJay_31 The nature of Spells and Spellcraft

The Magic within the world of Harry Potter is notoriously a mix of Soft and Hard systems. For those of you that aren't down on your Magical System Hardness Classifications, how 'Hard' a magic system is defined by how rigid and explicit the rules are that govern it.
Is magic something that anyone can do, or only 'magical people/creatures'. In Harry Potter, Muggles are a thing, so you have to be magical in order to use magic. Hard System.
Does magic require a wand or other magical focusing device. In Harry Potter, sometimes. Most people seem to require a wand, but wandless magic is possible for powerful people, and for magical creatures like Centaurs, House Elves and Phoenixes. Soft(er) System.
Does using magic cost anything to the caster? In Harry Potter, unknown. I can't recall anyone ever complaining about being 'tired' from casting magic, but there's also limits to how powerful a person can make a spell. Soft System.
So, my question is, how do people perceive the magic being cast in Harry Potter? How flexible is it, in your personal head-canon, as a tool?
For example - Stupefy is a common stunning spell. If preformed by both a weak magic user (Neville in his 4th year) and a powerful magic user (maybe Dumbledore), what are the results? Is Stupefy a spell with a 'set' outcome, in that the target is simply 'stunned' in both cases, or does the different power levels of the casters affect the results? Might Neville put someone into a light daze, where as Dumbledore might put someone into a coma that lasts days?
In short, do spells have definitive results, or are they more flexible? Could Dumbledore, for example, reduce the power of the Stupefy that he casts to match that of a young Neville? Does he need to be careful not to cast 'accio quill' with too much power, lest it turn into an arrow that embeds itself in his hand as if shot from a bow?
Can a skilled magic user (not necessarily a 'powerful' one) use a spell in a novel way? Say, Alohomora (which is used to open 'locks') on a particularly tough knot in a rope? Or a brew a Polyjuice Potion that specifically did work with animal hair by the addition of an extra ingredient or two (you could call it an 'Animagus Solution')?
Can thestrals be seen only by people who have witnessed, explicitly, a person die, or can you see them if you've 'experienced' death (like that of a close family member) and know what such a loss feels like?
Because the magic of Harry Potter was written in such a way that all these questions are, as far as I know, not definitively answered within the text, we have all come up with an answer ourselves, and they're all objectively 'correct' interpretations. Some people may lean towards a more rigid system, where a Stupefy is a stunning spell, that does a 'thing' no matter who casts it, whilst others may lean towards a more flexible system that implies that someone can deliberately change the nature of a spell if they set out to do so (not just in terms of power, but in nature - 'confuse' instead of 'stun', for example) without changing the incantation. Most people, I would imagine, sit somewhere in the middle.
I'd love to hear your thoughts, and to find out how people saw the magic system within Harry Potter, especially if you're one of those outliers that believes strongly for either a very rigid system or a very malleable system.
For my part, I always saw magic in the Harry Potter world as quite flexible (I'd agree with most of the 'flexible' scenarios above), but don't let me influence you.
Tell me what you really think!

2022.01.25 01:07 TheFrogInABlender Help with possible self-control issues?

So, as a teenager, I’ve never really had anger issues, but recently, it seems Im getting more and more angry at things that really don’t matter that much. Like, whenever anything slightly annoying, I just wanna punch my pillow or something. It seems like it’s getting worse the older I get, and I don’t want it to develop into anything later on. Any tips for self control or the like?

2022.01.25 01:07 EfficientPizza Provider who's print doesn't crack and peel off?

Has anyone done extensive testing on which providers prints don't start cracking / peeling off after a few washes? I should've done this when I was in the states last year, but alas I didn't and I'm now kicking myself for it.
Which providers have you personally tested that don't suffer from this issue?
I say personally because many of us like to think if we don't get bad reviews / complaints from customers that everything is ok. The reality is most people don't care to write a review or send you a message, they'll just never shop with you again.
My gripe is with Monster Digital, while their speed and upfront quality is amazing, after a few washes the truth wins out and you'll end up with cracked and peeling prints that don't so much have a vintage look to them but look like trash. Proper care has been used as well - inside out washing on cold and hang drying; even with a dryer on low heat this shouldn't be an issue, btw.
I've seen some good reviews on Awkward Styles and The Dream Junction(though TDJ seems to always have stock issues), has anyone thoroughly tested these places out, or other providers?
Shirts being printed on are Bella+Canvas 3001. I used to use Gildan 64000s but switched over to B+C early last year.
I'd love to have a printer I can count on that'll actually bring me repeat buyers.

2022.01.25 01:07 Ok_Tangelo_3256 My meeting with buff Mormon missionaries

Hey exmos and nevermos!
I'm a never-Mormon that follows this subreddit and posted a few episodes of my podcast many moons ago and because they were about the history of Mormonism, they caught some interest.
Recently, a couple LDS missionaries contacted me out of the blue (this is a years long affair that I keep going for my own reasons) and I met a couple really yoked guys at the local "Institute of Religion". I talked about my meeting in our latest episode and thought some of you might be interested in listening to it.
Here are some links to different platforms the episode is on. The first half is when we cover the missionary stuff; the other half is about NXIVM (content warning for sexual assault in that portion).

Anchor: https://anchor.fm/ministrymodus/episodes/Episode-34-Meeting-Mormon-Missionaries-and-the-Story-of-NXIVM-e1dc94r
In the episode, I talk about some basic LDS beliefs and church doctrine. As for my meeting with these kids (I'm 30 and they're fresh out of high school), it was almost nothing I hadn't heard before from my years of talking with missionaries. The only difference is that when I went to this local building, my conversation with them was like a blatant MLM pitch.
They were the most confident and well-spoken missionaries I ever talked to, but that actually made it obvious how they wanted to control the dialogue and stick to a script where they sell me on the joy of the Gospel and the love of God and concluding our meeting with an "invitation" to read the Book of Mormon and pray to Heavenly Father about if it's true.
If you do listen to our episode, I'd love to read some of the feedback and thoughts ya'll might have. Thanks!

I made card sized booklets for Character Tracking sheets. And a Campaign Tracking Booklet inspired by boardgamegeek https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/204012/jaws-lion-campaign-tracker
Originally I was putting in game art but it is MUCH more fun to leave room to doodle while your teammate is having a deep thinking turn.
Character Tracking Books
  • Cover and back (for name, art, level, and more art on the back)
  • pg 1-2 (gold earned and items owned)
  • pg 3-4 (experience and cards in pool*)
  • pg 5-6 (modifier deck and perks)
*I'm playing with different groups so I added card lists to record each player's custom decks.
Campaign Tracking Book
  • Cover and back (title, art, Team Level, and more art on the back)
  • pg 1-2 map for scenario tracking. I colour in the ring when unlocked and the box when complete.
  • pg 3-4 (room for art and items unlocked)
  • pg 5-6 (city events and room for art)
